Volunteers are a vital part of Healthwatch Activities. We are always actively recruiting new volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, and would love to hear from anyone who is interested in improving health and social care services in their local community. Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, meet people, get involved in your community and gain vital job experience. In return we will ensure you are fully trained and supported and receive reasonable out of pocket expenses. There are a number of ways you can get involved as a Healthwatch volunteer:
Enter & View Representative - As an Enter & View representative you will ‘Enter’ publically funded health and social care settings such as care homes, GP surgeries, Pharmacies etc and, once on site, you will talk to patients, residents, staff, carers and relatives about their experience of the service to find out what is working well or where improvements can be made. You will also ‘View’ what is going on and write a short review of you findings ready to form the basis of a report compiled by Healthwatch staff.
Engagement Volunteer – if you enjoy meeting people and like a good natter, then this is the volunteer role for you! You will support the staff team at local events. Community venues and GP Surgeries, talking to the local community about their experiences of health and social care services, and handing out information and leaflets promoting the service.
Mystery Shopper – Within this role you will be going into community venues as directed, to ask for information and/or how to be signposted to other agencies. The purpose of this is to ensure everyone can access information, advice and guidance when they it need it most. Your task will be to find out if the staff know how to refer you to where you need to go and how they go about doing this.
Data and Admin Volunteer – This role will be on a ‘as and when’ basis and will be during office hours. You will be assisting Healthwatch staff inputting surveys, addressing and posting newsletters and other admin type duties as required.
